NASHVILLE ATTORNEY DISBARRED BY SUPREME COURT

By Order of the Supreme Court of Tennessee entered March 30, 2004, Dennis J. Hughes,
a Nashville attorney, was disbarred from the practice of law retroactive to and effective June 24,
1997. Mr. Hughes accepted disbarment by consent, pursuant to Section 15 of Rule 9 of the
Rules of the Supreme Court of Tennessee, as a consequence of his having been found guilty at
trial on June 19, 1997, and convicted on June 23, 1997, in the Circuit Court for Davidson
County, Tennessee, No. 96-C-1802-A, of bribing a witness and criminal conspiracy. Mr.
Hughes had been placed on suspension arising out of the conviction by Order of the Supreme
Court dated June 24, 1997, pursuant to Section 14 of Rule 9 of the Rules of the Supreme Court.

Pursuant to Section 19 of Rule 9 of the Rules of the Supreme Court, Mr. Hughes will be
eligible to apply for reinstatement to the practice of law after five years from the effective date of
disbarment. Reinstatement would be granted only by Mr. Hughes demonstrating by clear and
convincing evidence that he has the moral qualifications, competency, and learning required for
admission to the practice of law and that his resumption of practice would not be detrimental to
the integrity and standing of the bar or administration of justice or subversion of the public
interest.

The Court further ordered that Mr. Hughes pay the costs of the disciplinary proceedings
and comply in all respects with Rule 9 regarding the obligations and responsibilities of a
disbarred attorney.
