PUBLIC CENSURE
The above complaint was ï¬led against John M. Wolfe, Jr., an attorney licensed to
practice law in Tennessee, alleging certain aots of misconduct. Pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9,
the Board. of Professional Responsibility considered these matters at its meeting on September
21, 2012.
Respondent paid a client $500 which he told the client was a payment from the defendant
in the clientâs lawsuit. The defendant, however, made no payment to the client; rather, the
defendant paid the court costs in the matter. Respondent then settled the lawsuit without the
clientâs permission. Respondent entered an agreed order of dismissal and failed to provide a
eopy of it to the client for over a year and never otherwise informed the client the ease had been
Settled.
By the aforementioned acts, John M. Wolfe, In, has violated Rules of Professional
Conduct 1.2 (scope of representation), 1.4- (communication) and 8.4 (misconduct) and is hereby
Publicly Censured for these violations. Respondent has prior public discipline.
