SHELBY COUNTY LAWYER SUSPENDED
On August 6, 2015, James Marion Allen, of Memphis, Tennessee, was suspended from the practice of
law by Order of the Tennessee Supreme Court for six (6) months. The order was effective upon entry. Mr.
Allen must pay the Boardâs costs and expenses and the court costs within ninety days of the entry of the Order
of Enforcement.
The Board of Professional Responsibility filed a Petition for Discipline against Mr. Allen based upon
one complaint of misconduct alleging Mr. Allen engaged in the unauthorized practice of law after the
suspension of his law license on July 14, 2008, for failure to pay registration fees. Mr. Allen entered into a
Conditional Guilty Plea admitting to the misconduct.
Mr. Allenâs actions violated Rules of Professional Conduct 5.5, (unauthorized practice of law).
Mr. Allen must comply with the requirements of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, Sections 28 and 30,
regarding the obligations and responsibilities of suspended attorneys.
