SHELBY COUNTY LAWYER CENSURED

On July 6, 2026, Robert Dean Flynn, an attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee, received a Public
Censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Tennessee Supreme Court.
Over the course of six months, Mr. Flynn knowingly comingled personal and client funds in his firm’s
IOLTA and paid personal and operating expenses from the account. Mr. Flynn held a client’s funds for 49 days,
during which time the IOLTA fell below the client’s held balance of $3273.70 for a week before the account
became overdrawn, placing the client’s funds at risk. No clients suffered actual harm from Mr. Flynn’s actions.
By these acts, Mr. Flynn, has violated Rules of Professional Conduct 1.15(a), (b), and (c) (safekeeping
property and funds) and is hereby Publicly Censured for this violation.
A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorney’s ability to
practice law.
