On October 14, 2016, Jerry Dell Holmes, an attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee, received a
Public Censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Tennessee Supreme Court.
Mr. Holmes operates a title and escrow company. Mr. Holmes did not maintain adequate bookkeeping
procedures and failed to properly train and supervise non-lawyer staff which resulted in numerous overdrafts on
Mr. Holmesâ trust accounts.
By these acts, Jerry Dell Holmes has violated Rules of Professional Conduct 1.15 (safekeeping property
and funds) and 5.3 (responsibilities regarding non-lawyer assistants), and is hereby Publicly Censured for these
violations.
A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorneyâs ability to
practice law.
