CHATTANOOGA LAWYER SUSPENDED
On October 18, 2012, the Tennessee Supreme Court entered an Order suspending Fred T. Hanzelik for
one year, with six months actual suspension and the remaining six months served on probation.
The Board of Professional Responsibility filed a Petition for Discipline and Supplemental Petitions for
Discipline against Mr. Hanzelik for neglect of clientsâ cases, failing to act with reasonable diligence and
promptness in representing clients, and failing to adequately communicate with clients. Mr. Hanzelik entered
into a Conditional Guilty Plea to resolve the Boardâs disciplinary charges. Mr. Hanzelikâs actions violate Rules
of Professional Conduct; 1.3 (diligence); 1.4 (communication); 3.2 (expediting litigation); 3.4 (fairness to
opposing party and counsel); and 8.4 (misconduct).
Mr. Hanzelik must comply with the requirements of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, Section 18
regarding suspended attorneys.
