IN THE SUPREME COURT OF TENNESSEE
AT NASHVILLE

08/06/2024

IN RE: SHAHEEN ILTAF IMAMI, BPR No. 040047
An Attorney Licensed to Practice Law in Tennessee
(Hamilton County)
________________________________
No. M2024-00650-SC-BAR-BP
BOPR No. 2024-3403-3-AW-25
________________________________
ORDER OF RECIPROCAL DISCIPLINE
This matter is before the Court pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 25, upon a Notice
of Submission filed by the Board of Professional Responsibility (“Board”) consisting of a
certified copy of Order of Reprimand With Conditions entered by the Attorney Disciplinary
Board for the State of Michigan on April 10, 2024, imposing a public reprimand with
conditions on Shaheen Iltaf Imami.
On May 8, 2024, this Court entered a Notice of Reciprocal Discipline requiring Mr.
Imami to inform this Court, within thirty (30) days of receipt of the Notice, of any claim
by Mr. Imami predicated upon the grounds set forth in Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 25.4, that the
imposition of identical discipline in Tennessee would be unwarranted and the reasons
therefor. On June 7, 2024, Mr. Imami filed a response in opposition to reciprocal discipline.
On July 2, 2024, this Court directed the Board to file a reply to Mr. Imami’s response. On
August 1, 2024, the Board filed its reply, arguing that no basis exists under Tenn. Sup. Ct.
R. 9, § 25.4 for declining to impose reciprocal discipline.
After careful consideration of the entire record in this matter, this Court finds, based
upon the particular facts of this case, that no basis exists under Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 25.4
for declining to impose reciprocal discipline. Accordingly, it is appropriate to enter this
Order of Reciprocal Discipline imposing on Shaheen Iltaf Imami a public censure with the
conditions specified in the April 10, 2024 order entered by the Attorney Disciplinary Board
for the State of Michigan.
IT IS, THEREFORE, CONSIDERED, ORDERED, ADJUDGED, AND
DECREED BY THE COURT THAT:
(1)

Shaheen Iltaf Imami is hereby publicly censured with said censure
conditioned upon (i) successful completion of the State Bar of Michigan’s
(SBM) “Lawyer Trust Accounts Seminar: Management Principles &
Recordkeeping Resources,” with proof of said completion being provided to

the Grievance Administrator; and (ii) successful completion of SBM’s “Tips
and Tools for a Successful Practice” seminar, with proof of said completion
being provided to the Grievance Administrator.
(2)

Pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 28.1, this Order shall be effective upon
entry.

(3)

The Board of Professional Responsibility shall cause notice of this discipline
to be published as required by Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 28.11.
PER CURIAM
