JEFFERSON COUNTY LAWYER CENSURED
On August 7, 2013, Jill R. Talley, an attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee, received a Public
Censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Tennessee Supreme Court.
Ms. Talley was retained by a client to represent her in a divorce. Ms. Talley filed a motion and affidavit
to withdraw in which she stated that âthere have been several instances where [client] has not been completely
truthful concerning certain issues, including her actions, in the case.â Ms. Talley's client suffered harm as a
result of her statement to the court.
By these acts, Jill R. Talley has violated Rule of Professional Conduct 1.6 (confidentiality of
information), and is hereby Publicly Censured for this violation.
A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorneyâs ability to
practice law.
