MEMPHIS LAWYER DISBARRED
On May 20, 2008, Drayton Beecher Smith of Memphis, Tennessee, was disbarred by the Tennessee
Supreme Court. Mr. Smith was further ordered to comply with the requirements and obligations of disbarred
attorneys as established in Rule 9, § 18 of the Rules of the Supreme Court. Mr. Smith consented to disbarment
because he could not successfully defend himself on the charges set forth in the Petition for Discipline filed
against him that alleged violations of Rule 8.4(a)(b)(c)(d) of the Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct.
The Board of Professional Responsibility of the Supreme Court filed a Petition for Discipline against
Mr. Smith following his indictment on six counts of possession and receipt of illegal materials transported in
interstate commerce by means of a computer.
