SHELBY COUNTY ATTORNEY DISBARRED
On April 22, 2013, the Tennessee Supreme Court disbarred David J. Johnson, of Shelby County,
Tennessee, retroactive to his previous disbarment effective November 25, 2011. Mr. Johnson consented to
disbarment because he could not successfully defend himself on charges filed against him with the Board
alleging that he had been convicted of the felony offense of Wire Fraud, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1343. Mr.
Johnsonâs actions violated Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 8, Rule of Professional Conduct 8.4 (misconduct).
Mr. Johnson must comply with the requirements of Section 19 of Rule 9, Rules of the Supreme Court,
should he seek reinstatement of his Tennessee law license, and may not resume the practice of law until
reinstated by further Order of the Tennessee Supreme Court. Mr. Johnson must further comply with Section 18
of Rule 9, Rules of the Supreme Court, regarding the obligations and responsibilities of disbarred attorneys.
