BOARD OF PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY

January 17, 2006
PULASKI LAWYER TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED
On January 10, 2006, the Supreme Court of Tennessee issued an order summarily
and temporarily suspending Keith R. Petersonâs license to practice law, upon finding Mr.
Peterson had failed to answer the Board of Professional Responsibility regarding a complaint of
misconduct. Section 4.3 of Supreme Court Rule 9 provides for the immediate summary
suspension of an attorneyâs license to practice law in cases of failing to respond to the Board of
Professional Responsibility. Disciplinary Counsel filed a petition with the Supreme Court
alleging that Mr. Peterson had failed to respond to the Board regarding a complaint.
The January 10, 2006 Order precludes Mr. Peterson from accepting any new cases
effective January 10, 2006. Mr. Peterson must cease representing existing clients effective
February 9, 2006. After February 9, 2006, Mr. Peterson shall not use any indicia of lawyer, legal
assistant, or law clerk nor maintain a presence where the practice of law is conducted.
The Order requires Mr. Peterson to notify by registered or certified mail all clients
being represented in pending matters, as well as co-counsel and opposing counsel of the
Supreme Courtâs Order suspending his law license. Section 18 of Supreme Court Rule 9
requires Mr. Peterson to deliver to all clients any papers or property to which they are entitled.
This suspension remains in effect until dissolution or modification by the
Supreme Court. Mr. Peterson may for good cause request dissolution or modification of the
suspension by petition to the Supreme Court.
