BOARD OF PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
October 19, 2006
CHATTANOOGA LAWYER CENSURED
Richard B. Teeter, a Chattanooga attorney, received a Public Censure from the Board of
Professional Responsibility on October 19, 2006.
A Final Order of Contempt entered in the Superior Court for Walker County, Georgia, on
October 20, 2005, found Mr. Teeter guilty of civil contempt for willfully failing and refusing to
comply with his Divorce Decree in failing to pay alimony, ordered the Sheriff to arrest and hold
Mr. Teeter until he purged himself by payment of the required sum, and ordered Mr. Teeter to
pay the adversary's attorney's fees within sixty days. The Final Order also found Mr. Teeter
guilty of criminal contempt and ordered that Mr. Teeter be arrested and held for ten days. Mr.
Teeter paid the sums required by the Final Order of Contempt, but has not served the ten days.
Mr. Teeter violated Rule of Professional Conduct 8.4(g).
A Public Censure is a form of public discipline which declares the conduct of the lawyer
improper but does not limit the lawyer's right to practice.
