WILSON COUNTY LAWYER CENSURED
Pursuant to Rule 9 of the Rules of the Tennessee Supreme Court, the Board of Professional
Responsibility issued a Public Censure as to Melissa J. Anderson, who practices law in Wilson County,
Tennessee. Melissa J. Anderson did not request a hearing as to this censure and therefore the censure became
final on July 8, 2008.
The Board of Professional Responsibility determined that Melissa J. Anderson violated the Rules of
Professional Conduct due to her arrest and subsequent guilty plea of three (3) counts of Driving Under the
Influence, First Offense. Ms. Anderson subsequently entered into an agreement with the Tennessee Lawyersâ
Assistance Program. Her actions violate the following Rule(s) of Professional Conduct: 8.4(b), Misconduct.
For these violations, the Board of Professional Responsibility publicly censures Melissa J. Anderson.
A public censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not limit the attorneyâs ability to practice
law.
