RIDGELY ATTORNEY SUSPENDED FROM PRACTICE OF LAW
Guy S. Davis, a Ridgely attorney, has been suspended by the Tennessee Supreme Court for
one (1) year retroactive to Davisâ temporary suspension on May 1, 2006.
Mr. Davis submitted a Conditional Guilty Plea agreeing to the one (1) year suspension for
abandoning his clientâs federal court case. Davis failed to respond to this complaint and was temporarily
suspended by the Supreme Court on May 1, 2006. The Board of Professional Responsibility filed a
Petition for Discipline against Davis pursuant to Rule 9, Rules of the Supreme Court of Tennessee. Davis
submitted a Conditional Guilty Plea on February 15, 2007 agreeing to a one (1) year suspension, retroactive
to Davisâ temporary suspension on May 1, 2006 to resolve the Petition for Discipline. Section 18 of Rule 9
of the Tennessee Supreme Court Rules requires Davis to notify by registered or certified mail all clients
represented in pending matters; all co-counsel and opposing counsel of the Supreme Courtâs Order
suspending his license. Section 18 also requires Davis to deliver to all clients any papers or property to
which they are entitled.
This disciplinary matter was held pursuant to Supreme Court Rules 8 and 9. Davis may
apply for reinstatement of his law license. To be reinstated, Davis must show by clear and convincing
evidence that his reinstatement will not be detrimental to the integrity and standing of the bar,
administration of justice or subversive to the public interest.
