NASHVILLE ATTORNEY SUSPENDED

On January 14, 2004, Nashville attorney D. Michael Van Sant, was temporarily suspended
from the practice of law by the Tennessee Supreme Court. The Court found that Van Sant
failed to respond to a complaint of misconduct.

Section 4.3 of Supreme Court Rule 9 provides for the immediate summary suspension of a
lawyer’s license to practice law in cases of failing to respond to the Board of Professional
Responsibility regarding a complaint.

The suspension order permits the suspended attorney to represent existing clients for thirty
days after the suspension. The attorney may not represent new clients during the thirty day
period. After the thirty day period the attorney is not permitted to represent any clients.

Van Sant is entitled to petition the Court for reinstatement. The suspension remains in effect
until dissolution or modification by the Supreme Court.
