MEMPHIS LAWYER TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED
On October 21, 2010, the Tennessee Supreme Court temporarily suspended the law license of Alisa
L. Simmons, a Memphis attorney, pursuant to Section 4.3 of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9. The Board
of Professional Responsibility petitioned the Court to temporarily suspend Ms. Simmonsâ law license
because of her failure to respond to the Board concerning a complaint of misconduct.
Pursuant to Rule 9, Section 4.3, Ms. Simmons cannot accept new clients or undertake any new
representation. She may represent existing clients for thirty (30) days, after which she cannot represent
them. Ms. Simmons may file an application with the Tennessee Supreme Court requesting a dissolution or
modification of the temporary suspension order. If she makes such an application, a hearing to consider
whether the suspension should be continued, modified or dissolved will be conducted before a panel
consisting of two (2) members of the Board and one Hearing Committee member.
