GALLATIN LAWYER SUSPENDED BY SUPREME COURT
Gallatin lawyer William N. Ligon has been temporarily suspended from the
practice of law by Order of the Tennessee Supreme Court on April 20, 2006.
The Court acting upon a Petition filed by the Board of Professional Responsibility
issued the immediate and temporary suspension based upon the fact that William N. Ligon poses
a substantial threat of irreparable harm to the public.
Ligon may not from the date of the Order accept any new clients but he is allowed
to continue to represent his existing clients through May 21, 2006. After May 21, 2006 Ligon
shall ï¬trthermore not use any indicia of lawyer, legal assistant or law clerk, nor maintain a
presence where the practice of law is conducted. Pursuant to Rule 9, Rules of the Tennessee
Supreme Court, Ligon may petition the Court for modiï¬cation or dissolution of this temporary
suspension.
The Tennessee Supreme Court ordered Ligon to comply with Section 18 of
Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9 which requires Ligon to notify by registered or certiï¬ed mail
all clients being represented in pending matters; all co-counsel and opposing counsel of the
Supreme Courtâs Order suspending him. Section 18 also requires Ligon to deliver to all clients
any papers or property to which they are entitled.
This suspension shall remain in effect until it is dissolved or amended by Order of
the Supreme Court of Temiessee.
