IN DISCIPLINARY DISTRICT IV
OF THE
BOARD OF PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
OF THE
SUPREME COURT OF TENNESSEE
IN RE: JIMMY LEO RICHARDSON, III, #032500 FILE NO.: 72107-4-MB
Respondent, an attorney licensed
to practice law in Tennessee
(Rutherford County)
______________________________________________________________________________
PUBLIC CENSURE
______________________________________________________________________________
The above complaint was filed against Jimmy Leo Richardson, #032500, an attorney
licensed to practice law in Tennessee, alleging certain acts of misconduct. Pursuant to Tenn. Sup.
Ct. R. 9, the Board of Professional Responsibility considered these matters at its meeting on June
9, 2023.
In 2017, Mr. Richardson was appointed to represent a father in a dependency and neglect
petition involving a child. In 2018, Mr. Richardson ceased representing the father. In 2021, Mr.
Richardson began representing the mother in an action to modify the permanent parenting plan for
the child. The two matters were substantially related, the subsequent clientâs interests were
materially adverse to the former clientâs interests, and the former client did not give timely
informed consent confirmed in writing.
By these acts, Mr. Richardson has violated Rule of Professional Conduct 1.9 (duties to
former clients) and is hereby Publicly Censured for this violation.
