FORMER KINGSTON ATTORNEY DISBARRED
On December 13, 2007, the Supreme Court of Tennessee entered an Order disbarring attorney
Thomas Alva Austin. On October 6, 2006, the Supreme Court of Tennessee entered an Order for the immediate
suspension of Austin pursuant to Austinâs Guilty Plea to extortion. On October 29, 2007, Austin consented to
disbarment. Austinâs disciplinary case was held pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 8 and 9. In Tennessee,
disbarred lawyers may apply for reinstatement of their law licenses after five (5) years. To be reinstated, Austin
must show by clear and convincing evidence that his reinstatement will not be detrimental to the integrity and
standing of the bar or the administration of justice or subversive to the publicâs interest.
