WILLIAMSON COUNTY LAWYER SUSPENDED

On July 10, 2008, the Tennessee Supreme Court entered an Order suspending the law license of
P. Robert Philp for thirty (30) days beginning immediately after the entry of the Order. Mr. Philp is further
ordered to maintain malpractice insurance upon his resumption of the practice of law
The Board of Professional Responsibility filed a Petition for Discipline against Mr. Philp pursuant to Rule 9
of the Rules of the Supreme Court of Tennessee. A Hearing Panel heard the matter and determined that Mr. Philp
assumed representation of a medical malpractice action without having adequate experience and adequate resources
to competently prosecute the case. Mr. Philp failed to diligently prepare for the case. Further, Mr. Philp made
misrepresentations to the clients regarding the amount and payment of expenses. He is ordered to pay the costs of
the disciplinary proceeding. Mr. Philp’s actions violated the following Rules of Professional Conduct: 1.1
(Competence); 1.3 (Diligence); and 8.4 (Misconduct).
