CLARKSVILLE ATTORNEY PUBLICLY CENSURED
Clarksville attorney, Rodger N. Bowman, was censured by the Board of
Professional Responsibility on October 10, 2005 for neglecting to close an estate for
approximately five (5) years with the result that his client had been held in contempt in the estate
matter for not appearing to answer motions that had been reset multiple times with the consent
and knowledge of Bowman. By his actions Bowman violated DR 1-102(A)(1)(5)(6); DR 6-
101(A)(1)(2)(3) and DR 7-101(A)(1)(2)(3)(4) of the Code of Professional Responsibility and
Rules 1.3; 1.4 and 8.4(a)(c)(d) of the Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct. The Board
censured Bowman on the condition that he enter into a monitoring agreement with the Tennessee
Lawyers Assistance Program, with any reported incidence of non-compliance constituting
immediate grounds for summary suspension.
The imposition of this censure declares Bowmanâs actions to be improper ethical
conduct, but does not limit his right to practice law.
