NASHVILLE ATTORNEY SUSPENDED
On March 22, 2013, the law license of Philip K. Lyon of Nashville, Tennessee, was suspended by the
Tennessee Supreme Court for a period of one (1) year pursuant to Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, Section
4.2. Mr. Lyon was also ordered to enter into a secured promissory note payable to a former client in the amount
of $42,500.00 and make full restitution to the former client as a condition precedent to reinstatement.
On May 9, 2012, the Board of Professional Responsibility filed a Petition for Discipline based upon a
self-report by Mr. Lyon that he was improperly dealing with funds in his client trust account. Mr. Lyon
admitted that he failed to protect client property and that he used funds for his personal benefit.
By these acts, Philip K. Lyon has violated Rules 1.15 (b) and (d) (safekeeping property and funds) and
8.4(a), (b), and (c) (misconduct) of the Rules of Professional Conduct and is hereby suspended for these
violations.
Mr. Lyon was further ordered to pay the expenses and costs of the disciplinary proceeding against him
pursuant to Rule 9, Section 24.3, of the Rules of the Supreme Court, and fully comply in all respects with the
requirements and obligations of suspended attorneys and the procedure for reinstatement as set forth in Rule 9,
Sections 18 and 19, of the Rules of the Supreme Court.
