NASHVILLE ATTORNEY CENSURED
On July 25, 2005, Helen L. Cornell of Nashville, Tennessee, received a public
censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility. Cornell was given notice of the censure
and did not request a hearing.
In Cornellâs representation of a client, Cornell pursued an invasion of privacy
claim without factual basis and/or fabricated evidence in violation of Rules 1.3; 3.3; 3.4; 4.1 and
8.4 of the Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct. An independent contractor employed by
Cornell telephoned the opposing party during the litigation in violation of Rule 4.2 of the
Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct. For these actions, the Board publicly censures
Cornell. The censure declares Cornellâs actions to be improper ethical conduct but does not limit
her right to practice law.
