COLUMBIA ATTORNEY PUBLICLY CENSURED
Columbia attorney William C. Barnes, Jr. was censured by the Board of Professional
Responsibility October 18, 2004 for neglecting his clientâs legal matter and failing to adequately
communicate with his client. The clientâs case was dismissed by order entered May 5, 2003 for
failure to prosecute. Barnes failed to advise his client of this dismissal.
Barnes violated Rules 1.3, 1.4 and 8.4(d) of the Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct. The
imposition of this censure declares Barnesâ actions to be improper ethical conduct, but does not
limit his right to practice law.
