MEMPHIS LAWYER SUSPENDED
On March 19, 2008, the Tennessee Supreme Court temporarily suspended the law license of Terry A.
Scott, a Memphis attorney, pursuant to Section 4.3 of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9. The Board of
Professional Responsibility petitioned the Court to temporarily suspend Scottâs law license because of Scottâs
failure to respond to a complaint of ethical misconduct.
Pursuant to Rule 9, Section 4.3, Scott cannot accept new clients or undertake any new representation.
He may represent existing clients for thirty (30) days, after which he cannot represent them. Scott may file an
application with the Tennessee Supreme Court requesting a dissolution or modification of the temporary
suspension order. If he makes such an application, a hearing to consider whether the suspension should be
continued, modified or dissolved will be conducted before a panel consisting of three (2) members of the Board
and one (1) Hearing Committee member.
