PUBLIC CENSURE

The above complaint was filed against Ivan Omar Lopez, an attorney licensed to practice

law in Tennessee, alleging oertaln aots of misconduct. Pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 9, the

Board of l’rofossional Respooorbrtrty oomrclered these imiters at its meeting on September 9,

.2011.

Through inveetigatlon of an overdraft of the Rosponclent's trust account, it was revealed

that the Respondent regularly allowed clients to pay filing fees via a credit card payment service

that deposited “the money into his business amount. The Respondent would then transfer the

money to his trust account, but he did not always do so timely. In one case, the Respondent left

the filing fee in his business account for a month before transferring the money to his trust

account. In another case, the Respondent left money that a client had given him for the purpose

of. paying a, traffic ticket in his business account for one week before transferring the money to

his trust account. However, no client funds were adversely affected.

By oomingling his own funds with those of his clients, Ivan Omar Lopez hoe violated

Rule of Professional Conduct 1.15 (safekeeping property) and is hereby Publicly Censored for

this violation.
