NASHVILLE LAWYER DISBARRED
On October 4, 2010, Reginald Lamont Horton of Nashville, Tennessee, was disbarred by the
Tennessee Supreme Court. Beginning August 2009, the Board of Professional Responsibility filed a
Petition for Discipline and a Supplemental Petition for Discipline against Mr. Horton based upon sixteen
(16) client complaints of neglect and failure to communicate. On August 18, 2010, Mr. Horton pled guilty
to serious crimes, i.e. delivery of .5 grams of cocaine; possession of .5 grams of cocaine with intent to
deliver; attempted theft of property over $1,000; facilitation of sale of 300 grams of cocaine and possession
of 10 lbs. of marijuana with intent to deliver, and was suspended by the Tennessee Supreme Court. Mr.
Horton subsequently filed a Conditional Guilty Plea agreeing to his disbarment.
Mr. Horton violated disciplinary rules by his criminal conduct, neglect and failure to communicate
with clients. Mr. Hortonâs actions violated Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 8, Rules of Professional
Conduct 1.3 (diligence), 1.4 (communication) and 8.4 (misconduct).
Ms. Horton was ordered to pay the expenses and costs of the disciplinary proceedings against him,
pursuant to Rule 9, Section 4.7, of the Rules of the Supreme Court, and to fully comply in all respects with
the requirements and obligations of disbarred attorneys as set forth in Rule 9, Section 18.1 of the Rules of
the Supreme Court.
