OF THE
BOARD OF PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
OF THE
SUPREME COURT OF TENNESSEE

IN RE: Charles Scott Justice, BPR No. 025496 FILE No. 71604-2-ES
Respondent, an attorney licensed
to practice law in Tennessee
(Knox County)
____________________________________________________________________________

PUBLIC CENSURE
____________________________________________________________________________

The above complaint was filed against Charles Scott Justice, an attorney licensed to

practice law in Tennessee, alleging certain acts of misconduct. Pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9,

the Board of Professional Responsibility considered this matter at its meeting on June 9, 2023.

In May 2019, a client hired Mr. Justice to file a lawsuit for damages arising from the alleged

faulty construction of a deck at the client’s residence. Mr. Justice filed the lawsuit in March 2020.

The trial date was continued several times and then taken off the court’s active docket in April

2021. The client contacted Mr. Justice about the status of the matter in June, September and

October 2021, with no substantive response from Mr. Justice. Mr. Justice sent an email to the

client in March 2022 stating that he wanted to withdraw from the matter, but the client did not

receive the email. Mr. Justice did not move to withdraw from the case and took no further action.

By the aforementioned acts, Charles Scott Justice is in violation of Rules of Professional

Conduct 1.16 (termination of representation), 3.2 (expediting litigation), 1.3 (diligence), 1.4

(communication) and 8.4(d) (prejudice to the administration of justice) and is hereby Publicly

Censured for these violations.
