CHATTANOOGA LAWYER REINSTATED BY SUPREME COURT
Howard Brownlow Barnwell, a Chattanooga attorney, has been reinstated to the practice of
law by Order of the Tennessee Supreme Court entered on March 13, 2003. Mr. Barnwell was
temporarily suspended from the practice of law by Order of the Supreme Court on January 31,
2003, for failing to respond to a complaint of misconduct. On February 12, 2003, Mr. Barnwell
filed a Petition for Dissolution of Order of Temporary Suspension. A hearing was conducted on
February 24, 2003. On March 6, 2003, the Hearing Panel recommended that the temporary
suspension be dissolved upon Mr. Barnwell's compliance with the Supreme Court Rules which
required Mr. Barnwell to notify his clients and opposing counsel or parties of his suspension. Mr.
Barnwell filed an affidavit of compliance on February 28, 2003.
