On January 14, 2025, Kirk D. Catron, an attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee, received a
Public Censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Tennessee Supreme Court.
Mr. Catron represented a client in a child support modification and did no work on the matter for 14
months. Mr. Catron then recommended the client settle the matter, and he provided a proposed order for the
clientâs review which included a blank child support worksheet. The client declined to agree until he saw proof
of income of the mother. The next day, however, Mr. Catron entered the agreed order without notifying his
client or providing a copy to him.
By these acts, Kirk D. Catron has violated Rules of Professional Conduct 1.2 (scope of representation),
1.3 (diligence), 1.4 (communication), 3.2 (expediting litigation), and 8.4(d) (prejudice to the administration of
justice) and is hereby Publicly Censured for these violations.
A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorneyâs ability to practice
law.
