MADISON COUNTY LAWYER CENSURED

On July 20, 2009, Jack Colin Morris, licensed in Tennessee, received a Public Censure from the Board
of Professional Responsibility of the Tennessee Supreme Court. Pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 9, the Board
considered these matters at its meeting on June 12, 2009.

Morris was retained in 2002, to represent a Complainant in a divorce case. During the time Morris
represented the Complainant, there was very little progress in the Complainant’s case. Morris drafted a
complaint and marital dissolution agreement, and, in February of 2006, the parties participated in mediation,
which did not resolve the matter. The Complainant fired Morris and hired a new attorney in October of 2006.
The case was finally heard and resolved on March 5, 2009. Morris represented the Complainant from July of
2002 until October of 2006, and, in that time, devoted a total of only nine hours to the Complainant’s case. In
representing the Complainant, Morris did not act with reasonable diligence and did not adequately communicate
with the Complainant.

By the aforementioned facts, Jack Colin Morris, has violated Rules of Professional Conduct 1.3
(Diligence) and 1.4 (Communication), and is hereby Publicly Censured for these violations. A Public Censure
is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorney’s ability to practice law.
