SHELBY COUNTY LAWYER CENSURED
On October 25, 2011, Mimi Phillips, an attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee, received a
Public Censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Tennessee Supreme Court.
By stating to a court that her client had always paid his child support without disclosing his substantial
child support arrearage, Ms. Phillips violated Rule 3.3. Also, Ms. Phillipsâ representation to the court about
her prior disciplinary history was incorrect.
By the aforementioned acts, Ms. Phillips has violated Rule of Professional Conduct 3.3 (candor to the
tribunal) and 8.4(c) (misconduct) and is hereby Publicly Censured for these violations.
A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorneyâs ability to
practice law.
