FORMER CHATTANOOGA ATTORNEY PUBLICLY CENSURED

Former Chattanooga attorney, James A. Meaney, III, currently practicing in Atlanta, Georgia,
was publicly censured by the Board of Professional Responsibility November 12, 2004 for
making sexually explicit statements to a client and neglecting another client’s worker’s
compensation case, failing to file his lawsuit within the statute of limitations, and failing to
adequately communicate with his client.

Meaney’s acts and omissions violated DR 1-102(A)(1)(4)(5)(6); DR 6-101(A)(1)(2)(3); and
DR 7-101(A)(1)(2)(3)(4) of the Code of Professional Responsibility, and Rules 1.1; 1.3; 1.4 and
8.4 of the Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct. The imposition of this censure declares
Meaney’s actions to be improper ethical conduct but does not limit his right to practice law.
