Disbarred by order entered July 12, 1988 after he filed a conditional guilty plea, which was
accepted, wherein the disbarment would be Nunc pro tunc to December 7, 1982, the date he was
originally suspended from the practice of law. He was a former State Senator and had been
charged with using his official position and influence in obtaining contracts for Honeywell
Information Systems for which he was paid approximately $150,000. The U.S. District Court
convicted him of conspiracy; mail fraud; wire fraud; aiding and abetting wire and mail fraud;
interference with commerce by extortion; and income tax evasion. Upon conviction, he was
sentenced to a total of 7 years imprisonment and fined $10,000. The fine was forgiven and the
Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals overturned his conviction for conspiracy, but refused to reverse
the other convictions.
