Public censure on November 4, 1988. Several complains were filed against Nichols alleging
neglect and failing to adequately communicate with clients. Much of the complainants' concern
arose when Nichols closed down his practice and went into the military. Some of his clients had
difficulty reaching him and finding out about their cases. However, while he was practicing he
had a very large caseload and, as a result, he was unable to adequately advise clients as to the
status of their cases.
