On April 28, 2025, Roger David Hyman, an attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee, received a
Public Censure from the Supreme Court of Tennessee and was ordered to pay the costs and fees of the Board of
Professional Responsibility.
Mr. Hyman represented a client in a contested divorce matter. After a settlement was reached, Mr.
Hymanâs client instructed him to withdraw from the tentative agreement. However, Mr. Hyman failed to
promptly communicate with opposing counsel as to his clientâs desire to withdraw from the agreement and
failed to take any other action to protect his clientâs interests, causing his client potential injury.
Mr. Hyman executed a conditional guilty plea acknowledging his conduct violated Rules of Professional
Conduct 1.2 (scope of representation) and 1.4 (communication).
A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorneyâs ability to
practice law.
