LAW LICENSE OF ELIZABETHTON ATTORNEY TRANSFERRED TO DISABILITY INACTIVE
STATUS
On July 11, the Supreme Court of Tennessee transferred the law license of Elizabethton
attorney Douglas Paul Jones to Disability Inactive Status. Prior to this transfer Mr. Jones' law
license had been temporarily suspend pursuant to a temporary suspension order entered on
August 23, 2002. This transfer to disability inactive status was the result of a Petition to Transfer
filed by Mr. Jones in which Mr. Jones alleged he had a medical disability that impaired his
ability to practice law. Disciplinary Counsel concurred in this request. Mr. Jones cannot
practice law as long as his law license remains in this status. Mr. Jones' license cannot be
reinstated from this status until after he has proven to a hearing panel of the Board
of Professional Responsibility by clear and convincing evidence that his disability has been
removed. Such transfers to Disability Inactive Status are governed by Rule 9, Rules of the
Supreme Court of Tennessee.
