MARYVILLE ATTORNEY CENSURED
On May 9, 2008, the Tennessee Supreme Court entered an Order publically censuring Charles David
Deas of Maryville, Tennessee, and ordering Deas to make restitution to a former client.
The Board of Professional Responsibility filed a Petition for Discipline against Deas pursuant to Rule 9,
Rules of the Supreme Court of Tennessee. Deas submitted a Conditional Guilty Plea agreeing to a Public
Censure and restitution for Deasâ neglect and failure to communicate.
Deasâ neglect and failure to communicate with his clients violates Rules 1.3 (Diligence on Behalf of
Clients); 1.4 (Adequate Attorney-Client Communications) and 8.1 (Bar Admission and Disciplinary Matters) of
the Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct. For these violations, the Supreme Court of Tennessee publically
censures Deas. This censure declares Deasâ conduct to be improper but does not limit his right to practice law.
