HAMBLEN COUNTY LAWYER CENSURED
On January 20, 2012, Paul G. S. Whetstone of Morristown, Tennessee, was Publicly Censured by the
Tennessee Supreme Court pursuant to Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, Section 4.4.
Mr. Whetstone was convicted of direct criminal contempt by the Jefferson County General Sessions
Court after he interrupted court proceedings, became argumentative with the presiding judge, and failed to take
his seat when ordered to do so.
By the aforementioned acts, Paul G. S. Whetstone has violated Rules 3.5(e) (engaging in conduct
intended to disrupt a tribunal), and 8.4(d) (conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice) of the Rules of
Professional Conduct and is hereby Publicly Censured for this violation.
A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorneyâs ability to
practice law.
