ORDER OF ENFORCEMENT
This matter is before the Court upon a Petition for Discipline filed against Amanda
Howell Castillo on November 15, 2024; upon Certificate of Electronic Service filed on
January 2, 2025; upon Motion for Default and That Charges in Petition for Discipline be
Deemed Admitted filed on February 10, 2025; upon the Supplemental Petition for
Discipline filed against Ms. Castillo on May 5, 2025; upon the Hearing Panelâs entry of
Order for Default Judgment on the Petition for Discipline on May 15, 2025; upon service
of the Judgment of the Hearing Panel on Ms. Castillo by the Executive Secretary of the
Board on May 15, 2025; upon the Certificate of Electronic Service of the Supplemental
Petition for Discipline filed on June 5, 2025; upon Motion for Default and That Charges in
the Supplemental Petition for Discipline be Deemed Admitted filed on June 6, 2025; upon
the Hearing Panelâs entry of Order for Default Judgment on Supplemental Petition for
Discipline on July 29, 2025; upon service of the Judgment of the Hearing Panel on Ms.
Castillo by the Executive Secretary of the Board on July 29, 2025; upon the final hearing
on sanctions on August 14, 2025; upon the Hearing Panelâs Order of Final Judgment of
August 28, 2025; upon service of the Order of Final Judgment on Ms. Castillo on August
28, 2025; upon the Boardâs Application for Assessment of Costs filed on August 29, 2025;
upon the Hearing Panelâs Findings and Judgment for Assessment of Costs filed on
September 24, 2025; upon service of the Findings and Judgment for Assessment of Costs
on Ms. Castillo by the Executive Secretary of the Board on September 24, 2025; upon
expiration of the appeal period with no appeal taken; and upon the entire record in this
cause.
From all of which, the Court approves the Judgment of the Hearing Panel and adopts
the Hearing Panelâs Order Recommending Permanent Disbarment as the Courtâs Order.
On July 26, 2024, Ms. Castillo was temporarily suspended by this Court from the
practice of law pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9 § 12.3 (M2024-01095-SC-BAR-BP). To
date, Ms. Castillo has not requested, nor been granted reinstatement.
IT IS, THEREFORE, CONSIDERED, ORDERED, ADJUDGED, AND
DECREED BY THE COURT THAT:
(1) Amanda Howell Castillo is permanently disbarred from the practice of law
pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9 § 12.1.
(2) Ms. Castillo shall pay restitution to Briauna Cotton-Carter in the amount of
$1,500.00 pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9 § 12.7. In the event restitution is made by the
Tennessee Lawyersâ Fund for Client Protection (TLFCP), Ms. Castillo shall reimburse
TLFCP the same amount.
(3) Ms. Castillo shall comply in all respects with Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9 § 28,
regarding the obligations and responsibilities of disbarred attorneys.
(4) Pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9, § 31.3(d), Ms. Castillo shall pay to the Board
of Professional Responsibility the expenses and costs incurred to date by the Board in this
matter in the amount of $2,716.00 (including $100.00 for the cost of filing this matter) and
pay to the Clerk of this Court the costs incurred herein. All such costs and expenses
awarded herein shall be paid within ninety (90) days of the entry of this Order for which
execution, if necessary, may issue.
(5) The Order of Temporary Suspension entered July 26, 2024, in Case No.
M2024-01095-SC-BAR-BP, is hereby dissolved.
(6) The Board of Professional Responsibility shall cause notice of this discipline
to be published as required by Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9 § 28.11.
(7) Pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9 § 28.1, this Order shall be effective upon
entry.
