TENNESSEE LAWYER CENSURED
On July 12, 2016, Trippe Steven Fried, an attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee, received a
Public Censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Tennessee Supreme Court.
Mr. Fried performed law-related services for a client without taking reasonable measures to assure the
client that the services were not legal services and did not offer protections afforded by an attorney/client
relationship. During the representation, Mr. Fried held himself out as a legal ofï¬cer in New York where he was
not licensed to practice law and displayed webâbased information that was misleading by giving the appearance
that Mr. Fried was licensed to practice law in New York.
By these acts, Trippe Steven Fried has violated Rules of Professional Conduct 5.7 (responsibilities
regarding lawârelated services) and 7.1 (communications concerning a lawyerâs services) and he is hereby
Publicly Censured for these violations.
A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorneyâs ability to
practice law.
