NASHVILLE LAWYER SUSPENDED

On September 8, 2008, the Tennessee Supreme Court entered an Order suspending the law license of
Matthew F. Mayo for three (3) months, with all but forty-five (45) days of the suspension being suspended, and
placing Mr. Mayo on probation with conditions. The conditions of Mr. Mayo’s probation include payment of
the disciplinary costs; payment of restitution in the amount of One Hundred Fifty Dollars ($150.00) to a client
within one hundred eighty (180) days; enrollment in and successful completion of a law practice management
course. Mr. Mayo also must obtain and use the services of a practice mentor to provide advice on the
management of his law practice.

The Board of Professional Responsibility filed a petition for discipline against Mr. Mayo pursuant to
Rule 9 of the Rules of the Supreme Court of Tennessee. A Hearing Panel heard the Board’s petition and found
that Mr. Mayo failed to act with reasonable diligence and promptness in representing his clients, failed to keep
clients fully informed, and failed to refund a request for information from his clients.

Mr. Mayo’s actions violated the Rules of Professional Conduct. The Supreme Court suspended Mr.
Mayo for three (3) months with all but forty-five (45) days of this suspension being suspended, placed Mr.
Mayo on probation for one (1) year and ordered Mr. Mayo to make restitution to a client in the amount of One
Hundred Fifty Dollars ($150.00).
