SUMNER COUNTY ATTORNEY SUSPENDED
On January 5, 2009, the Tennessee Supreme Court suspended the law license of Jocelyn D. Mims
pursuant to Section 14 of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9. The Board of Professional Responsibility
petitioned the Court to suspend Mimsâ law license in light of Mimsâ plea of guilty to conspiracy to introduce
contraband into a penal facility and attempted introduction of contraband into a penal facility.
The Supreme Court further ordered the Board of Professional Responsibility to institute a formal
proceeding to determine the extent of final discipline to be imposed as a result of the conviction. Ms. Mims was
ordered to fully comply with the provisions of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9, Section 18, which require, in
part, the notification by registered or certified mail to all clients, all co-counsel, all opposing counsel and
opposing parties without counsel of the entry of Supreme Courtâs order suspending her. Section 18 also
requires that Ms. Mims deliver to all clients any papers or property to which they are entitled.
This suspension shall remain in effect until it is dissolved or amended by order of the Supreme Court of
Tennessee.
