GEORGIA LAWYER DISBARRED
On April 17, 2012, the Tennessee Supreme Court entered an Order of reciprocal discipline disbarring
Stephen V. Fitzgerald, Jr. from the practice of law in Tennessee.
The Board of Professional Responsibility filed a petition for reciprocal discipline with the Tennessee
Supreme Court after the Supreme Court of Georgia entered an Order striking Mr. Fitzgerald from the rolls of
persons entitled to practice law in the State of Georgia after he voluntarily surrendered his license. Pursuant to
the Rules of Discipline of the State Bar of Georgia, a voluntary surrender of license is tantamount to
disbarment.
Mr. Fitzgerald must comply with Sections 18 and 19 of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9 regarding the
obligations and responsibilities of disbarred attorneys. Mr. Fitzgerald may apply for reinstatement of his
Tennessee law license after five years and must pay the Boardâs costs and expenses prior to reinstatement.
