MEMPHIS ATTORNEY SUSPENDED FROM PRACTICE OF LAW
Avis Topps, a Memphis attorney, has been temporarily suspended from the practice of law in
this state by order of the Supreme Court filed October 27, 1993. The Court suspended Ms. Topps
based upon a petition filed by the Board of Professional Responsibility alleging that she has
abandoned her practice, misappropriated funds and poses a substantial threat of harm to the
public.
This suspension was issued pursuant to Section 4.3 of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 9. This
rule provides that Topps shall be precluded from accepting any new cases during the first thirty
days after issuance of the order that that she shall be precluded from representing present clients
thirty days after its issuance. This suspension shall remain in effect until it is dissolved or
amended by order of the Supreme Court of Tennessee.
