CHATTANOOGA LAWYER SUSPENDED BY SUPREME COURT

By order of the Tennessee Supreme Court entered January 15, 2002, James A. S. Wilson, a
Chattanooga attorney, was suspended from the practice of law in this state for a period of forty-five days.

A Petition for Discipline was filed against Mr. Wilson on May 19, 1999. Mr. Wilson entered into a
Conditional Plea of Guilty with the Board of Professional Responsibility in exchange for a stated form of
discipline. Mr. Wilson's suspension resulted from his failure to properly maintain his trust account records in
compliance with disciplinary rules and ethics opinions, resulting in unintentionally commingling his funds with
those of clients, and from his failure to properly gain court approval of fees in a bankruptcy action, resulting in
an order by the court to disgorge some of the fees to his client. Mr. Wilson disgorged the fees as ordered.
In addition to the suspension, the Court ordered that Mr. Wilson retain the services of an individual approved
by the Board of Professional Responsibility to review and/or set up a trust accounting system which complies
with the disciplinary rules and formal ethics opinions and make monthly reports to the Board of Professional
Responsibility for one year sufficient to demonstrate his compliance with the trust accounting rules and
opinions. Mr. Wilson may resume the practice of law at the expiration of the forty-five days.

The Court further ordered that Mr. Wilson pay the costs of the disciplinary proceedings and comply
in all respects with Supreme Court Rule 9 regarding the obligations and responsibilities of suspended
attorneys.
