The above complaint was filed against Dennis Dwayne Brooks, an attorney licensed to

practice law in Tennessee, alleging certain acts of misconduct. Pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9,

the Board of Professional Responsibility considered these matters at its meeting on June 8, 2018.

Mr. Brooks entered an agreement to publish a book about the convictions of three people

for murder, after he was successful in getting murder convictions as the lead prosecutor in the

matters. Mr. Brooks' book was published prior to the conclusion of the appeals of two of the

convictions. After Mr. Brooks’ book was published, one defendant filed a motion for new trial

and writ of error coram nobis alleging that the book contained evidence which had not been

provided to the defense. The appeals oftwo of the convictions were stayed for 18 months pending

a hearing on these motions.
