DAVIDSON COUNTY LAWYER CENSURED

On October 22, 2012, Robin Jeffrey Gordon, an attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee, received
a Public Censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Supreme Court of Tennessee.

Mr. Gordon employed an attorney with a non-active Illinois law license, not licensed in Tennessee, to
work as a paralegal in his office. The employee held himself out to clients as an attorney by signing two letters
with detailed legal advice, providing three receipts which listed him as an “attorney” with a billable rate of
$250, and providing a business card identifying himself as an “attorney at law.” Mr. Gordon billed for the time
of the non-licensed attorney at an unreasonable rate and failed to ensure that the employee’s conduct was not
the unauthorized practice of law.

By the above acts, Mr. Gordon has violated Rules of Professional Conduct 1.5 (fees) and 5.3
(responsibilities regarding non-lawyer assistants).

A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorney’s ability to
practice law.
