IN DISCIPLINARY DISTRICT IV
OF THE
BOARD OF PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
OF THE
SUPREME COURT OF TENNESSEE
IN RE: TODD ALLEN TRESSLER, BPR NO. 26925 FILE NO. 52483-4-SC
Respondent, an attorney licensed
to practice law in Tennessee
(Wilson County)
PUBLIC CENSURE
The above complaint was filed against Todd Allen Tressler, #26925, an attorney licensed
to practice law in Tennessee, alleging certain acts of misconduct. Pursuant to Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 9,
the Board of Professional Responsibility considered these matters at its meeting on March 9, 2018.
Mr. Tressler hired a real estate broker in connection with the purchase of commercial realty.
Mr. Tressler terminated the brokerâs services and hired an immediate family member as successor
broker after an agreement was reached with the seller and the brokerâs work had been substantially
completed. The closing documents and contractual agreements between Mr. Tressler and the two
brokers granted the original broker the full commission and provided that the division of the
commission would be subsequently negotiated between the original and successor brokers.
Contrary to this agreement, Mr. Tressler refused to forward payment of the commission to the
original broker after closing, and instead attempted to negotiate a division of the commission on
behalf of the successor broker.
By these acts, Todd Allen Tressler has violated Rule of Professional Conduct 84(0), and
is hereby Publicly Censured for this Violation.
