MEMPHIS LAWYER SUSPENDED BY SUPREME COURT
By Order of the Tennessee Supreme Court entered January 3, 2008, King Bethel Harris, III, a Memphis
attorney, was suspended from the practice of law in this state for one year.
A Petition for Discipline was filed against Mr. Harris by the Board of Professional Responsibility on
October 2, 2005, alleging that Mr. Harris engaged in the unauthorized practice of law prior to becoming
licensed in any state. On April 20, 2007, Mr. Harris entered into a Conditional Plea of Guilty with the Board of
Professional Responsibility admitting that he violated Rules of Professional Conduct 5.5(a) and 8.4(a)(d) and
agreeing to the suspension. Mr. Harris was also ordered to refund $10,000.00 to Katja Fort.
The Court further ordered that Mr. Harris pay the costs of the disciplinary proceedings.
